Osmundastrum cinnamomeum

Postby Aidanomatic » 5th September , 2010, 1:43 pm

I didn't know where to post this question. sorry if its in the wrong place
I am a student trying to do a project about the adaptions and evolutions of ferns according to their climate. I recently found that this fern (Cinnamon Fern) Osmundastrum cinnamomeum is the oldest living species. This would be a huge boon to my research and i was wondering if there were any horticultural societies that had specimens of this plant. I live in the south of england and am not yet old enough to travel but any suggestions are very welcome.
Thank you in advance,
Aidan

Aidan?

Hello - welcome to the Fern Forum. This fern is more commonly known as Osmunda cinnamomeum. It is sometimes available from fern nurseries (try googling 'Osmunda cinnamomeum'). It's probably grown in a few public gardens. There are others on the forum who grow Osmundas so you may get a better reply from one of them in due course.

Regards

Anthony
